The meaning of "ee-guh"
All last week little Riley was feeling under the weather. I stayed home to be with the little guy on Thursday, which was a good thing because his fever spiked up to 106, (the thermometer is a bit suspect however, as it is one of those digital ones that is scanned across the forehead) which freaked me out enough for an immediate Pediatrician visit. Riley was diagnosed with the stomach flu. He's fine now.. a bit irritable but healthy otherwise.
On Friday afternoon, to give him some fresh air, Tim, (who also stayed home to be with our son) Riley, and I frolicked around the neighborhood playground.

Afterwards, we visited Home Depot where the three of us finally chose the tiles to install our kitchen backsplash. The tumbled marble with slight brown and gray undertones matched our granite countertops the best.
2008 House beautification project #1 is well underway:
Upcoming 2008 House Beautification Projects:
- Family room fireplace (reface the brick, replace the mantle, replace hearth)
- Family room entertainment system (Install a 5.1 surround sound system In-Wall and In-Ceiling speakers)
- 1st floor guest bath (replace current sink with a pedastal, replace wall mirror, retile current wood floor with slate tiles)
- Master bath (re-tile floor, tile around tub and shower, install vanity top with granite, replace wall mirror and fixtures)
- Riley's bath (re-tile floor, install vanity top with granite, replace wall mirror and fixtures)
On Sunday which happened to be a beautiful beautiful sunny day, the three of us headed to Wisconsin for some outdoor shopping. Riley finally got his new white converse sneakers, and my dear husband and son gave me an early mother's day gift. ;-) thanks boys!

All weekend, as you can see in his pictures, Riley was attached to his baseball cap. He kept asking for it even while at home. Plus, Riley learned some new words which he kept repeating over and over and over...
Door - doe
Apple - apuh
Sorry - sowwy
Cookie - kookee
Water - wah
Cut - ka
TV - teebee
Keys - kee
Moon - moooooon
He is very inquisitive these days. The Korean word "ee-guh?" which translates to "this?" in English, is a word we hear Riley say as he points to things repeatedly. Recently he will point to something, ask "ee-guh?" and when Tim and I tell him what he is pointing to, Riley will think for a moment and repeat after us to learn the word. It is heart warming to hear and encouraging for us, as parents, to see that our son Riley is aware of the world around him and is seeking support to learn daily as much as he can.
Riley, you can ask mama as many "ee-guh?" as you'd like. I promise to be patient with your 1 million repetetive ee-guhs and guide you as best as I can.
I love you, Son!

Weekends are made for fun

Over the weekend, Riley drove us to Chili's for a quick lunch.

Saturday, Tim and Riley headed over to Gordon's parents house to celebrate his 30th birthday.
On sunday night, Uncle Tommy came over for dinner.. The distance from Shanghai to Grayslake is quite far but the friendship between Tim and Tommy proved closer than ever.
It was great to see you Tommy.. next time, we'll head to your hood. =)
